LVN – PRN (Longview)

HealthCARE Express in Longview is seeking an LVN/LPN to work PRN. This position is responsible for patient care in a clinical setting. This individual works closely with the clinical staff, front desk personnel, and other related departments.

SHIFT
As needed (PRN)

SCOPE
The LVN/LPN reports to the Director of Nursing. This position provides nursing care to patients as delegated by the Practitioner.

1. Patient Care
Main Activities:
• Obtain vital signs (temperature, heart rate, pulse ox, blood pressure and weight)
• Document in patient computer record procedures
• Insert saline/heparin locks
• Insert and irrigate urinary catheters
• Perform basic and advance cardiac life support
• Apply sterile dressings
• Assist with pelvic examination
• Removing sutures or staples
• Perform EKGs
• Cleanse and irrigate wounds
• Administer oral and IV medications
• Apply splints ( i.e. volar, thumb spica, ulnar gutter, posterior leg splints)
• Initiate routine lab tests after consultation with provider
• Swab mucous membranes for culture specimens
• Administer and read TB skin tests
• Perform venipunctures

2. Nurse Protocols:
• Knowledge of crash cart and contents
• Update patient chart in computer
• Answer patient questions after consultation with the provider
• Follow-up of abnormal findings over the phone at the request of provider
• Phoning prescriptions to pharmacies under provider direction

The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
• Must have knowledge though practical experience in a clinical setting
• Must be sensitive to the needs of the patients in an urgent care setting

• Graduate from an approved nursing program with degree
• BCLS Certification

Mascot (Texarkana)

HealthCARE Express is looking for someone to be our mascot (Klondike the HealthCARE Bear) at area baseball games and community events as needed (evenings and weekends) this Spring and Summer. The mascot must be 16 years of age or older and be able to provide his/her own transportation to and from the event. Each event pays $25 to cover mileage to the event plus about 1 hour at the event.

Coder (Texarkana)

HealthCARE Express Billing is looking to hire a medical coder with at least one year experience.  Applicants must have experience doing 100% abstraction. ER experience preferred, but not required.

The person will work weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The coder will need to be able to read the entire record of the health encounter and analyze the information to determine what condition(s) the patient has, what caused it, and how it was treated, in order to derive the appropriate codes. The information comes from a variety of sources within the medical record, such as clinical notes, laboratory and radiology results, and operation notes. Some codes are given by the providers or a software system. Evaluation and Management Coding (E&M) Coding is key. Must have abstraction using the 1995 guidelines.

The Coder will review, determine accuracy of, and apply the correct coding conventions to patient charge encounters, procedural services, as defined through physician documentation and may provide oversight and payer-specific education related to physician coding/compliance, non-physician practitioner coding/compliance and appropriate coding conventions for individual staff members and collective groups within the department.

After training and probationary period, the coder must be able to do at least 100 charge entries daily.

This position reports to the Billing Supervisor.
